EXPLORE VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
The goal of United Way’s Volunteer Center is to create a central clearinghouse for volunteers to find ways to give back throughout the community, whether in human services, the arts, or environmental stewardship or animal welfare. Nonprofit organizations of all kinds serving the Greater Lafayette community are welcome and encouraged to recruit volunteers through our volunteer matching platform!
We use Golden Volunteer, an award-winning web platform to share and promote volunteer opportunities. Community members can download the mobile app or create their account online, though this is not a required step to search for and sign up for volunteer opportunities. That said, if you are tracking hours for a scholarship, court-ordered service, or just because you want to track your impact, creating an account and/or downloading the app will make this process much easier and more fun!
Are you a nonprofit organization who would like to recruit volunteers for an upcoming event or ongoing program? Contact Amy O'Shea to learn the next steps!
PROGRAMS
When you volunteer with United Way, you’re not just giving your time — you’re changing the trajectory of someone’s life right here in our community.
Through VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance), you can help individuals and families file their taxes for free, ensuring they receive the refunds and credits they’ve earned. With Read to Succeed, you’ll support local third graders in building critical reading skills — because reading at grade level by third grade is a key predictor of future success. And through Kindergarten Camp (K Camp), you can help prepare our youngest learners for a confident start to school by supporting early literacy, social skills, and classroom readiness.
Whether you have a few hours a week or a few days a year, there’s a place for you to make a meaningful impact. Together, we’re building strong foundations for lifelong success.
COMMITTEES
Looking to make an impact beyond direct service? Our volunteer committees play a vital role in advancing United Way’s mission and strengthening our community.
Serve on the Community Investment Committee (CIC) to help review programs and guide funding decisions that drive measurable results. Join the Volunteer Engagement Committee to expand meaningful service opportunities across our region. Support fundraising and relationship-building through the Campaign Cabinet, or lend your expertise to our Marketing and Finance committees to help steward our brand and resources responsibly.
Your leadership, insight, and expertise can help ensure we’re investing wisely, engaging deeply, and building a stronger future for everyone in our community.
