James Taylor is currently Executive Director of the United Way of Greater Lafayette. He is a native of Blacksburg, VA, a graduate of Wake Forest University and Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary and a former hospital chaplain. He started his United Way career in the campaign with Mile High United Way in Denver, CO and has served in Tampa, FL and most recently as Executive Director of the United Way of Washington County in Hagerstown, MD. Amy is his wonderful wife and they have twin sons, William and Wesley. James started with the United Way of in Lafayette on September 1 of 2004.
ASHLEY BRAZELTON

Ashley Brazelton is the Communications/Campaign Associate. Ashley inegrates staff and volunteer initiatives in the area of Public Relations and is a key team member in establishing and maintaining the positive image of our United Way. Ashley holds a bachelors degree in Psychology from Purdue University.
Accounting Associate
Jane is a familiar face at United Way. She served as the Administrative Assistant from August 2002 to March 2004, and later returned to the staff as the Accounting Associate in October 2004. It's been a pleasure having her back! Jane processes pledges, and payments as well as oversees pledge designations and accounts payable. In her free time she keeps up with her husband and daughter while finding time to walk, swim, and enjoy Purdue football!

Part of the United Way staff team since 1981, Freda is a graduate of Ohio Christian University, and Leadership Lafayette. Campaign support, data/report generation, and account maintenance are among her specialties. She is known in-house as the one most likely to hatch a new idea.

INRN Regional Director
Jillian Miller is the Regional Director for the Indiana Nonprofit Resource Network, a statewide program administered by the Indiana Association of United Ways. Jillian provides training and development workshops and consultations to nonprofit organizations throughout the state of Indiana. Jillian has presented and developed curriculum on board governance, strategic planning, board committee structure, leadership and motivation, volunteerism, and Sarbanes Oxley for Nonprofits. She has also received extensive training in grant writing, fund raising, creative problem solving, and accelerated learning. Jillian holds a bachelors degree in Organizational Leadership and Supervision from Purdue University.
Community Services Labor Liaison
With the United Way since 1981, Don is a graduate of Franklin and Marshall College, with some graduate studies at Purdue. Don is one of our in-house experts on agency referrals for people who need help in our community. He is involved with organized labor's community service program and contributes to a number of community social services and coalitions. Don is the father of two daughters and a son.

Campaign Director
Kate Walker joined United Way as Campaign Director in early 2006 after 13 years at Purdue University in the Advancement and University Relations Offices. During that time, she was a United Way volunteer on the Public Relations and Marketing committee. Prior to Purdue, Kate spent 8 years as a broadcast news reporter. A graduate of Ball State University, Kate has extensive experience and is a frequent presenter in the areas of donor-centered fundraising and donor/external/media relations. She has attended the Fundraising School at Indiana University, several continuing educational opportunities through the Council for the Advancement of Secondary Education (CASE) and the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) and the WOW Institute.
Matt Emery recently joined the United Way as the Community Impact Director. A graduate of Purdue University, Matt previously worked in human resources management. He enjoys the outdoors, reading, and spending time with his children.
Laura Carson joined the United Way in 2007 as the Finance Director. She has earned a CPA designation and brings many years of financial accounting experience. Laura enjoys spending her free time with her husband of twenty years and her teenage daughter.
Volunteer Services Coordinator
Samantha Dummel is the Volunteer Services Coordinator for the Greater Lafayette Volunteer Bureau, a program of the United Way of Greater Lafayette. Sammi coordinates the programs and services offered by the Volunteer Bureau to local non-profit agencies and volunteers. Sammi provides consultation to volunteers, writes a weekly column on volunteer needs, gives presentations on volunteer management, and spends a few hours each week at the Boiler Volunteer Network, on Purdue’s campus, helping to plan volunteer opportunities for students. Sammi holds a bachelors degree in Communications from Purdue University.
Administrative Assistant
Amy Wood joined our staff in September 2007 just in time for campaign kickoff. She earned her Associated Degree in Accounting from Ivy Tech Community College. Along with working in our finance department, she steps in with whatever is needed in all our departments. She has two grown children and a granddaughter. If you need a suggestion on a good movie, being a huge movie buff, Amy could probably suggest one to your liking.
