THE CAMPAIGN ORGANIZATION
Chair: Gary Lehman
President & CEO
Fairfield Manufacturing Company
Starting with one individual appointed by the President of the Board as "Campaign Chair" for the year, the campaign team of volunteers swells to well over 300 by the Victory Celebration finish line. A Campaign Leadership Cabinet is formed to lead ten divisions of the campaign. When the dust settles on the mid-September to mid-November campaign, funds generated are invested in proven effective programs of 23 local human service agencies.

The Community Investment Committee (CIC) is a citizen review team made up of informed volunteers to recommend levels of funding for United Way program partners to ensure that donor dollars are spent in response to current and emerging human service needs of the community as efficiently and effectively as possible.  Volunteers are recruited from business, labor, public, human services and relevant sectors to serve as members of the CIC.

Visit our Community Impact section for an outline of how the process works:

The mission of this committee is to help make the United Way's annual fundraising campaign a success. This is accomplished by involving organized labor in a variety of educational and promotional efforts. This committee is made up primarily of representatives from industry, building trades and public service unions. The LPC's objectives, goals and activities are oriented towards increasing labor involvement with United Way.

This is accomplished by three LPC sub-committees:

The LPC meets on the first Thursday evening of each month from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Elmhurst Community Building.

THE LABOR PARTICIPATION COMMITTEE
Chair: Lesley Morgan

The Marketing/Public Relations Committee is charged with the roles of coordinating the annual United Way campaign promotion and continuing communications with the public year-round.

Planning for the next campaign begins soon after the completion of the previous campaign. The Marketing/PR committee chair works with subcommittee chairs to begin their preparations in December.

Subcommittees include:

Week of Caring - This subcommittee handles all aspects of this community-wide event, at which hundreds of volunteers lend their elbow grease to our partner agencies. Subcommittee members work with agency and corporate representatives to match volunteers with projects.

Loaned Campaign Representatives - Two Marketing/PR committee members serve as trainers to approximately 12 ambassadors, who are generously donated by local organizations for the sole purpose of promoting United Way. These ambassadors make presentations to employee groups during the campaign.

Year Round Marketing - This team addresses effective media avenues to promote United Way year round. Focus will be placed on utilizing web updates and e-news letters as well as pitching impact features and developing a young/emerging leaders group. Members of this group are also available to assist partner agencies in analyzing marketing and communication issues they may face.

Campaign Marketing - This group serves as the "think tank" of the committee. Members develop the United Way campaign marketing plan. Main responsibilities include campaign print materials & campaign video.

Events - These enthusiastic volunteers organize the pacesetter kick-off, the campaign kick-off, four report meetings and victory celebration.  This creative group also plans the In House Coordinator’s Training in June and the Volunteer Thank You Celebration each January. Their challenge is to generate education and entertainment at all United Way events.
